When you're rebuilding the top end of your SBC 400 engine for serious performance, the pistons are a critical component. These JE Pistons are forged from 2618 aluminum, a material chosen for its high tensile strength, making them well-suited for high-demand applications where durability and consistent power are essential. They are engineered specifically for the SBC 400 engine, aiming to optimize performance and longevity.

JE Pistons has applied over 75 years of experience to these forged pistons, which are made 100% in the USA. The proprietary Forged Side Relief (FSR) design is notable for minimizing friction and power loss by using a reduced skirt width and a shorter wrist pin, which also saves weight. Depending on the specific application, these pistons may also feature an accumulator groove to help reduce combustion gas pressure, which can prevent ring flutter and improve ring seal for more consistent power delivery. Some applications also include a skirt coating that further reduces friction and wear on the piston skirts and cylinder walls, contributing to quieter operation.

This set includes eight pistons, each designed for a 4.165-inch bore with a 1.000-inch compression distance and a 0.927-inch wrist pin. It's important to note that these pistons are not CARB approved and cannot be shipped to California.
