JE Pistons uses a proprietary Forged Side Relief (FSR) design that helps minimize friction and power loss by reducing skirt width. This design, along with a shorter wrist pin, also saves weight. Depending on the specific application, these pistons may also feature an accumulator groove to help manage combustion gas pressure, which improves ring seal for more consistent power delivery. A skirt coating, also application-dependent, further reduces friction and wear on the piston skirts and cylinder walls, contributing to quieter operation.
