This set features JE's proprietary Forged Side Relief (FSR) design. This means the forging itself is shaped to minimize friction and power loss by using a narrower skirt and a shorter wrist pin, which also helps save weight. Depending on the specific application, you might also find an accumulator groove, which helps control combustion gas pressure to improve ring seal and keep power consistent. Some applications also include a skirt coating that further reduces friction and wear on the piston skirts and cylinder walls, while also helping to quiet down engine noise.
