The aluminum intake tube is mandrel-bent to help improve airflow, and the oversized, conical air filter allows for extended service intervals, potentially up to 100,000 miles between cleanings under normal highway driving. The included heat shield or air box works to keep hot engine bay air away from the intake, which helps ensure cooler air enters the engine for better performance.
