This system uses a rotationally-molded HDPE tube to help move more air, and it comes with a larger fresh air scoop that fits behind the grille to capture cooler air. The enclosed air box design helps keep heat from the engine bay away from the filter, and it makes accessing the filter for service easier. The filter itself is a washable, reusable High-Flow Air Filter with oiled cotton media. Under normal highway driving, you can go up to 100,000 miles between servicing it.
