The cleaning interval depends on your driving conditions. In normal street use, clean it every 50,000 miles. Clean more often if you drive in dusty conditions.

What do I use to clean this filter?

K&N sells a recharge kit (part number 99-5000) that includes both the cleaner and the filter oil. You spray on the cleaner, rinse it off, let the filter dry, and then apply the oil.
