High Pressure Monotube Gas Shock

The KYB Excel-G rear shock absorber uses a monotube design, which means it has separate chambers for hydraulic fluid and high-pressure nitrogen gas. This setup helps prevent the fluid from foaming, or 'fading,' during hard use, giving you more consistent control when you need it. It automatically adjusts to your driving needs, offering a comfortable ride during normal driving and improved responsiveness when you demand more from your vehicle.

This design also helps keep the ride comfortable by using a floating piston to separate the gas from the hydraulic fluid. This means you get the benefit of a more controlled suspension without sacrificing comfort for everyday driving. For the best results and to reduce the chance of noise and vibration, KYB recommends installing new strut mounts, like their part number SM5723, at the same time you replace the shocks.
