Red Line LightWeight ShockProof Gear Oil (1 Qt.)

Red Line built the ShockProof line around a unique idea: suspend microscopic solid particles in the oil as an extreme-pressure agent instead of relying on conventional additives alone. The LightWeight version carries a 75W140 gear oil rating but flows with the internal fluid friction of an SAE 30 motor oil, which means your gearbox sees strong protection at the tooth contact points without the drag penalty of a thick conventional gear lube.

According to Red Line, the ShockProof formula delivers a 40 percent lower coefficient of friction and 250 percent greater load-carrying capacity compared to conventional gear oils. That combination is why it shows up in racing transmissions like Hewland dog-ring boxes, Bert and Brinn units for stock cars, and G-Force and Liberty clutchless transmissions for drag racing. It also works well in 2-stroke and 4-stroke motocross gearboxes, sometimes mixed with SuperLight ShockProof depending on the application. The fully synthetic base stock provides solid cold-flow characteristics, making shifts easier when the gearbox has not warmed up yet.

Note that Red Line does not recommend this oil for most synchromesh transmissions. It is formulated for dog-ring, sequential, and non-synchronized racing gearboxes where outright protection and low drag are the priorities. Each bottle is one quart.
