Mahle's MS piston set is built for performance Small Block Chevy (SBC) builds aiming for a 406 or 407 cubic inch displacement. These pistons feature a 4.155-inch bore and are designed to work with a 3.750-inch stroke crankshaft and a 5.700-inch connecting rod, a common combination for achieving that displacement target. The -5cc dish volume, combined with a typical head gasket thickness and combustion chamber volume, results in a strong 11.7:1 compression ratio, ideal for naturally aspirated street performance or racing applications where pump gas is used.

Crafted from 4032 aluminum alloy, these pistons offer a good balance of strength and lighter weight compared to cast pistons. This alloy is known for its good thermal expansion properties, making it suitable for performance street engines that see regular use. The pistons are designed with a 0.927-inch pin diameter, a standard size for many performance connecting rods. Each piston weighs approximately 488 grams, contributing to a well-balanced rotating assembly when paired with appropriate connecting rods and a crankshaft.

This set includes all eight pistons needed for a V8 engine. It's important to note that these pistons are not CARB approved and cannot be shipped to California. For a successful build, ensure you have the correct connecting rods, piston rings, and wrist pins, as these are typically sold separately.
