Manley's Platinum Series pistons start with domestic 2618 alloy forgings, a material chosen for its strength and ability to handle demanding engine conditions. These pistons are designed with proven cam and barrel skirt profiles, which help generate power efficiently while also being considerate of your cylinder walls during operation. The precise machining of the ring lands and grooves is critical for a good seal, and Manley holds these dimensions to strict standards to ensure optimal ring seal and improved power output.
The manufacturing process uses unique fixturing that allows the skirt to be turned and the ring grooves to be machined in the same setup. This ensures the ring grooves are perfectly square to the piston skirt, which is essential for consistent performance and durability. Each piston comes with tool steel wrist pins, and some part numbers offer upgrades to even stronger 9310 or Turbo Tuff/DLC alloys for added resilience.
