If you're looking to keep intake air temperatures down on your 2008-2014 Subaru WRX, especially if you're running higher boost levels or have a modified engine, this Mishimoto top-mount intercooler is a solid upgrade. The factory intercooler can struggle with heat soak and its plastic end tanks can fail when boost pressures climb above 18 psi. This intercooler features a dense bar-and-plate core that's 3.75 inches thick, giving it a total volume of 584 cubic inches. This larger volume, combined with an offset fin pitch, helps optimize heat transfer and can support vehicles making up to 400 wheel horsepower. In testing, this intercooler showed a 12-degree Fahrenheit drop in intake air temperature and a small but noticeable gain of 6 horsepower and 8 lb-ft of torque on a stock test vehicle. The end tanks are made from cast aluminum and are TIG-welded to the core for durability under pressure.
