If you have patience and a keen color match eye you can make a good repair with this kit. My repair was actually too big for this kit because the grain paper didn't cover with one piece. However, the heat tool itself is worth the price of the kit. I learned a lot about leather repairs. The trick is to get the fill right, just below the height of the original leather to allow for the color so it doesn't stand higher than the leather level. And take it slow...don't try to do too much at one time.
