About this part

Product Details

Converting your classic Mopar from torsion bar to coilover suspension is one of the most impactful changes you can make to a B-Body or E-Body build, and QA1's MOD Series system is a complete front-end solution that bolts in without cutting or welding. This kit fits 1962-1972 Charger, Coronet, and other B-Body models, plus 1970-1974 Challenger and Barracuda E-Body cars.

At the center of the system is a tubular K-member that replaces the factory unit. It weighs less than stock and opens up room for big-tube headers, which is a practical consideration for engine swaps or performance builds. Modular motor mounts accept many engine configurations including Gen 3 Hemis. QA1's tubular upper and lower control arms replace the factory pieces, and the system includes rack-and-pinion steering for a modern, responsive feel compared to the original recirculating ball setup.

The MOD Series shocks are where this kit separates itself from simpler coilover conversions. They use modular valve packs that you can swap out in minutes while the shock is still on the car, without losing oil or disturbing the nitrogen charge. This means you can dramatically change the valving characteristics between track days or between handling and drag setups. This specific kit is a handling configuration with 2 to 4 inches of drop, using poly bushings on the lower control arms for improved cornering with reduced noise and vibration, and a heavier 400 lb/in spring rate for front-end stability.

The kit uses Mustang II spindles, which opens up a wide range of aftermarket brake options. Note that the 2-to-4-inch drop version requires wheels at least 18 inches in diameter. Check with your brake manufacturer to verify wheel backspacing. Also, Gen 3 Hemi power steering pumps require a pressure reducer and a power steering cooler. QA1 makes this system in the USA.
