Rancho is known for its suspension components, and their RS5000X shock absorber line is built to handle a variety of driving conditions. This particular shock, the RS55056, is designed for the rear of trucks and SUVs like the Chevrolet Avalanche 2500, Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD, and GMC Yukon XL 2500, among many others. It aims to give you a more controlled ride whether you're on the pavement or venturing off-road.

What sets this shock apart is its unique valving system. It uses a large twin-tube body filled with all-weather fluid that stays cooler under stress, helping to reduce damping performance fade. The 16mm nitro-carburized piston rod is tough and resists scuffs and corrosion, while the 35mm sintered iron piston adds structural integrity. Rancho also includes a low-friction seal to keep the gas and oil where they belong, ensuring quicker rebound and smoother compression. For added comfort, it features a polyurethane rebound bumper and rubber bushings to soak up harshness, and a fluon-banded piston that responds quickly to changing road surfaces.

This shock absorber is built with double-welded loops at stress points for extra durability. It's pressurized with nitrogen gas to 150 PSI, which helps prevent air from mixing with the oil and causing foaming or reduced performance. The compression control valve is custom-tuned for each specific vehicle application to manage fluid flow, absorb impacts effectively, and maintain consistent shock motion control, ultimately leading to improved handling and a smoother ride.
