The RS5000X features a unique valving system and a large, twin-tube body filled with all-weather fluid, which helps keep internal temperatures cool even under extreme conditions, ranging from -40 to 248°F. This cooler operation contributes to better vehicle control and reduced damping fade. Inside, a 35mm sintered iron piston and a 16mm nitro-carburized piston rod work together to manage shock motion and resist scuffs and corrosion. The application-specific piston and custom-tuned Compression Control Valve regulate fluid transfer to absorb impacts effectively, while the Progressive Engagement Valving helps minimize harshness from initial low-speed impacts.

For a smoother ride and better responsiveness, this shock absorber includes a polyurethane rebound bumper and rubber bushings to absorb harshness, and a fluon-banded piston that enhances responsiveness to changing road conditions.
