The Rancho RS5000X shock absorber uses a 16mm nitro-carburized piston rod, which is a tough finish that helps resist scuffs and corrosion. Rancho built these shocks with a large twin-tube body that holds all-weather fluid, allowing them to operate cooler and handle extreme temperatures from -40 to 248°F. Inside, a 35mm sintered iron piston and a low-friction seal work together to control fluid movement and keep the gas and oil contained. This setup helps maintain consistent damping performance and reduces fade, even under demanding conditions.
