Rancho 88-99 Chevrolet Pickup / C1500 1/2 Ton - RWD Front RS5000X Shock

Rancho is known for making tough suspension parts that hold up to a lot of use, and their RS5000X line is a popular choice for trucks and SUVs. This RS55166 shock absorber is designed to fit a wide range of Chevrolet and GMC pickups and SUVs from the late 80s through the late 90s, like the C1500, C2500, Tahoe, and Yukon. It’s built to give you a better feel for the road, whether you’re on pavement or heading off it.

What makes this shock work well is its unique valving system, which Rancho calls Cross Tuned technology. It’s custom-tuned for each specific vehicle application to help manage fluid flow, absorbing impacts without causing flutter and keeping the shock working smoothly. The large, twin-tube body is filled with fluid that handles extreme temperatures, from -40 to 248°F, so it won't lose performance when things get hot or cold. Plus, the 16mm nitro-carburized piston rod is strong and resists corrosion, and the double-welded loops at stress points mean it's built to last.

You’ll notice a smoother ride thanks to the polyurethane rebound bumper and rubber bushings that soak up harshness. The fluon-banded piston also helps the shock respond quickly to changing road conditions. Rancho also pressurizes these shocks with nitrogen gas to 150 PSI, which helps prevent the oil and gas from mixing, reducing fade and keeping the damping performance consistent.
