The side plates are made from alloy steel that's been shot-peened to boost tensile strength and its ability to take hard hits. To help keep the chain running smoothly and reduce the risk of it coming off, the inner links are chamfered, and extended bushings are used to cut down on friction. The rollers are solid and shot-peened, while the pins are chromized, all working together to make this link last longer. The gold anodizing on the side plates also helps keep corrosion at bay.
