Product Details

If you're working on a 1979-1993 Ford Mustang that already has an aftermarket K-member, this front SLA suspension system from Ridetech is designed to significantly improve how your car handles. It replaces the factory McPherson strut setup with a Short-Long-Arm (SLA) design, which is a well-known way to get better tire contact through corners. This system includes billet aluminum upper control arms, tubular lower control arms, spindles that use S550 Mustang hubs, frame mounts, steering arms, and tie rods. You'll need to purchase the Ridetech Coil-Overs or Shockwave air suspension separately, as they are not included in this kit.

The factory strut suspension doesn't offer much negative camber gain, meaning the tire can lift off the pavement during hard cornering. This SLA design uses an upper control arm to actively create negative camber gain, keeping more of the tire flat on the ground through turns. This means you can run less static camber and still get excellent grip. Ridetech also optimized the caster, roll center, and Ackerman angles for improved steering feel and stability. The frame mounts bolt directly to the frame rails, handling the load from the upper arms and shocks. Both the upper and lower arms use Delrin bushings to reduce friction and stiction, allowing the suspension to move more freely. The spindles are built to accept S550 Mustang hubs, which helps prevent flex and allows compatibility with S550 or SN-95 Mustang brake kits, also sold separately.

You can expect notable improvements with this system. It achieves 1.25 degrees of negative camber gain per inch of suspension travel. The caster is adjustable from 7 to 9 degrees, and bump steer is nearly eliminated, measuring under .050 inches. This setup also improves tire clearance, allowing for up to 30 degrees of steering angle with tires up to 275mm wide on a minimum 17-inch wheel. It's designed to work with your stock sway bar or most aftermarket options, and it fits popular aftermarket K-members from companies like Maximum Motorsports, Team Z, AJE, and UPR.
