The real advantage of a Johnny Joint over a standard heim joint is its range of motion and cushioning. This joint allows for a full 40 degrees of unrestricted movement in any direction, which is significantly more than the typical 22 degrees you'd find on a heim. That extra flex is thanks to the high-density urethane bushing that surrounds the heat-treated center ball. This bushing also provides a level of cushioning that a heim joint just can't match.
