The RockJock Johnny Joint rod end is built for just that, offering up to 40 degrees of movement in any direction. That's a lot more than you'd get from a standard heim joint, and it makes a real difference when you're tackling tough terrain.

What sets the Johnny Joint apart is its design. Instead of just a metal-on-metal pivot, it uses high-density urethane bushings to cushion the movement. This not only absorbs some of the shock but also helps prevent the binding you can get with other types of joints. The heat-treated center ball is cross-drilled so you can easily lubricate it through the included zerk fitting, and it's held in place by heavy-duty washers and a snap ring. This particular joint has a narrow 2 1/2 inch body, 1 inch-14 right-hand threads for shank mounting, and a 2.625 inch wide ball with a 0.640 inch bolt hole. It's finished in a gold zinc plating to help keep it looking good.
