When you're rebuilding the engine in your 1988-2000 Honda Civic or CRX, or your 1993-1997 Civic del Sol, you're getting a set of Skunk2 Racing Alpha Lite Series connecting rods. These are designed specifically for D16A and ZC engines, particularly for naturally aspirated or lower horsepower turbo builds where you want to reduce rotating mass without sacrificing too much strength. You'll receive four connecting rods, each weighing in at about 448 grams, which is a notable weight reduction compared to stock, helping your engine rev more freely.

Skunk2 builds these Lite rods from forged 4340 chromoly steel, giving them a strong H-beam design that's analyzed using FEA to put material only where it's needed most. This approach helps achieve a great strength-to-weight ratio, and they're rated to handle up to 450 horsepower. To ensure they hold up, each rod undergoes comprehensive heat-treating, tempering, and shot-peening processes, and they are all magna-flux inspected to guarantee integrity. You also get dual oil passages at the pin ends, which are carefully positioned to provide consistent lubrication to the wrist pin throughout the engine cycle, adding to the rod's durability.

This set includes 3/8-inch ARP2000 bolts, which are a popular choice for their strength and reliability in performance applications. Skunk2 also includes a special lubricant for the bolts. The pin ends are designed to work with most pistons without needing additional machining, and the bronze wrist pin bushings are already installed. These rods are balanced to within 1 gram, ensuring smooth operation right out of the box.
