Skunk2 Alpha Series BRZ / FRS Connecting Rods

Forged from select 4340 chromoly steel, these Skunk2 Alpha Series connecting rods feature an H-beam design that offers a strong strength-to-weight ratio. Skunk2 carefully sources its 4340 chromoly and performs extensive material testing to ensure consistency and strength. Each rod undergoes comprehensive heat-treating, tempering, and shot-peening processes, then is magna-fluxed to verify integrity and adherence to Skunk2's strict specifications.

Engineers spent nearly three years developing and testing this H-beam configuration, capable of handling over 900 horsepower. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) was used to identify high-stress areas, leading to design features that reduce wear and increase overall strength. The straight H-beam design distributes stress across a larger area compared to tapered rods, offering additional support where it's most needed. These rods are manufactured from two-piece forgings, which allows for optimal grain orientation along the rod cap, significantly increasing strength by aligning the metal's grain in the direction of stress.

This two-piece forging process also ensures a precision-tight fit between the rod cap and beam without requiring brittle materials. For improved durability and cooling, the Alpha Series rods feature dual oil passages at their pin ends. These carefully positioned, offset oil passages help lubricate the entire wrist pin during every phase of the engine cycle. This set includes 3/8-inch ARP2000 bolts and bronze wrist pin bushings for a complete, well-built assembly ready for demanding builds.
