If you're building a D16 or ZC engine for your 1992-1995 Honda Civic, these rods are designed to handle significant power increases. They are forged from select 4340 chromoly steel, a material chosen for its exceptional strength, and feature an H-beam design that Skunk2 engineers spent nearly three years developing and testing. This design is capable of handling more than 900 horsepower, making them a solid choice for boosted or high-performance naturally aspirated builds.

Skunk2 goes the extra mile with their material sourcing and processing. They work closely with their foundry to ensure the 4340 chromoly meets their rigid specifications, and each rod undergoes comprehensive heat-treating, tempering, and shot-peening processes to reduce fatigue and ensure consistency. Before leaving the factory, every rod is magna-fluxed to guarantee its integrity. The H-beam design itself is analyzed using FEA to pinpoint high-stress areas, and features are implemented to increase strength and reduce wear. Unlike tapered rods, the straight design of these H-beam rods distributes stress over a larger area, offering more support where it's needed most. They are also manufactured from two-piece forgings, which allows for optimal grain orientation along the rod cap, further boosting strength.

Beyond their core strength, these Alpha Series rods include thoughtful details like dual oil passages at the pin ends. These passages are carefully positioned and offset to deliver continuous lubrication and cooling around the entire wrist pin, which helps extend the life of the rod and pin. They come equipped with 3/8-inch ARP2000 bolts, known for their reliability, and include bronze wrist pin bushings. Each set is balanced to within 1 gram, ensuring smooth engine operation. These rods are designed to fit most pistons without requiring additional machining at the pin end.
