The individual leaves in these Skyjacker Softride front leaf springs are shot-peened with hard steel pellets at high velocities. This process compresses the surface of the American steel, increasing the spring's tensile strength. Without this, you couldn't get the maximum wheel travel and ride quality without cutting down on the spring's lifespan.
These springs use bolt-style spring clips, which get rid of friction. Many other spring designs use cinch-style clips that bend tightly over the leaves, causing binding and friction. Skyjacker's Softride springs also taper over their entire length, creating more flex at the ends. This tapering distributes loads more evenly across a larger area and reduces the chance of one leaf digging into the one above it, contributing to a smoother ride.
