This is the Skyjacker Hydro Shock Absorber, designed to fit your 1984-2001 Jeep Cherokee. While the springs in your suspension handle the initial impact from bumps, the shock absorber's main job is to control the energy stored in those springs as they compress and extend. This helps keep your ride stable and comfortable by managing how quickly the suspension moves.

Skyjacker uses a twin-tube construction for this shock, which is a well-known design for reliable performance. Inside, it features multi-stage velocity-sensitive valving. What this means in practice is that the shock can adjust its damping force based on how quickly the suspension is moving. So, for everyday driving, it offers a comfortable feel, but when you hit a bigger bump or are cornering harder, it can stiffen up to control that movement more effectively. The 5/8-inch diameter hardened and double chrome rod is built to last, and it comes with red polyurethane bushings for solid mounting. It also includes a red boot to protect the rod, though other colors are available if you want to customize the look.
