The S197 Mustang chassis relies on a 3-link rear suspension system, using one upper and two lower control arms along with a panhard bar to manage the rear end. When you put down serious power, the factory control arms can flex, and their rubber bushings can deflect, leading to less grip and unpredictable handling. This kit from UMI Performance replaces those stock components with stronger, well-built parts designed to eliminate that flex.

This kit includes a rear upper control arm and a pair of heavy-duty boxed lower control arms. They are constructed from 1/8-inch wall thickness USA steel tubing, MIG welded, and assembled with greaseable polyurethane bushings. The bolt-in installation uses your factory hardware, making it a straightforward upgrade to gain better control and improved traction, especially during launches.

UMI Performance also offers an optional spacer kit (P/N 1058) designed to address noise caused by the factory Ford 16mm upper control arm mount hole being slightly larger than the 14mm bolt. These stepped spacers reduce that slop, which can cause noise during acceleration and braking. Note that this spacer kit is intended for use with the factory upper control arm mount.
