UMI Performance 78-87 GM G-Body Rear Lift Bar Set-Up

If you're looking to get the most out of your GM G-Body's rear suspension during launches, this rear lift bar set-up from UMI Performance is designed to help. These bars replace your stock rear control arms, adding significant track width without changing your ride height or comfort. They work by using axle torque to load the chassis, forcing the rear wheels down and pushing the tires into the ground for improved 60-foot times and harder launches. This setup is a popular choice for vehicles like the Chevrolet Monte Carlo, Pontiac Grand Prix, and Buick Regal from the late 70s through the late 80s.

Constructed from boxed mild steel tubing with 0.120" wall thickness and solid 0.188" thick mounting plates, these lift bars are CNC machined for precise fitment. They feature grease-able, high-quality bushings that minimize deflection while keeping the car street-able. UMI also includes provisions for mounting a stock or aftermarket sway bar, with reinforced, TIG-welded sleeves for the sway bar holes. The rear mounting brackets offer two positions, allowing you to adjust the lift bar position down by 2" or 3" to suit your specific suspension setup and driving needs. This setup also corrects lost geometry and the instant center on lowered vehicles.

This kit comes with all necessary hardware for installation, including new metric grade 10.9 control arm bolts with nylon lock nuts. You can choose to bolt or weld these bars into place, though some drilling is required if bolting. UMI recommends adding their adjustable upper control arms for a complete rear suspension setup.
