UMI Performance 78-88 GM G-Body 1-3/8in Tubular Rear Drag Sway Bar Bolt-on

This UMI Performance rear drag sway bar is built from 1-3/8” diameter tubular steel, a strong choice for helping your GM G-Body launch straight and flat. It's designed to work with a variety of rear ends, including factory OEM 7.5, GN 8.5, 12-bolt, 9-inch, M9, and S60 rears, and can accommodate axle tube diameters from 2.75 to 3.25 inches. You'll need to verify your specific rear end's axle tube diameter before ordering, as other brands may vary. This bar is made in the USA and is available in red or black powder coat finishes.

The design includes a CNC machined clamping system for secure mounting to your differential housing. For maximum security, especially when launching hard, welding the mounts is recommended, though a bolt-on installation is possible. The chassis mounts are double shear and use four 3/8” fasteners, with an exclusive reinforcement plate to help distribute the load. Drilling through the crossmember is required, and UMI includes a template and instructions to guide you. A house-made hex adjuster allows for on-car pre-loading of the bar, which is crucial for drag applications to ensure your car leaves the line straight, no matter how much power you're putting down. It also saves 8-10 lbs compared to some other options without sacrificing roll resistance.

This sway bar features heavy-duty machined aluminum mounts with greaseable polyurethane bushings and ultra-premium CrMo spherical rod ends with Teflon races for durability. The kit includes high-strength 4140 CrMo zinc-plated u-bolts, which can be switched out by changing u-bolt sizes if you move the bar to a different car. It fits a wide range of GM G-Body vehicles from 1978 to 1988, including models like the Buick Regal, Chevrolet Monte Carlo, and Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme.
