UMI Performance 78-88 GM G-Body 1in Tubular Rear Sway Bar Chassis Mounted Pro-Tour

This 1-inch diameter hollow tubular rear sway bar from UMI Performance is built for 1978-1988 GM G-Body vehicles, offering a significant upgrade over stock. Its chassis and differential housing mounts are designed to reduce the binding often found in factory setups, which can improve handling and tire contact. The bar features three distinct rates, allowing you to tune its stiffness for different driving conditions – from street cruising and autocross to road racing and drag strip use.

UMI's CNC machined clamping system is a standout feature, accommodating differential housing diameters of 2.75, 3, and 3.25 inches, making it compatible with a wide range of rear ends including factory OEM, Moser Engineering, Strange Engineering, and Currie. The double shear chassis mounts attach securely with four 3/8-inch fasteners, requiring drilling into the crossmember, for which a template and instructions are included. For drag racing applications, a house-made hex adjuster lets you pre-load the bar to help your car launch straight. The bar is equipped with heavy-duty, greaseable polyurethane bushings and race-style CrMo spherical rod ends with Teflon for smooth operation and durability.

This sway bar is designed to clear most common rear ends, but it's always a good idea to verify your axle tube diameter before ordering, especially with aftermarket rear ends. The kit includes premium greaseable polyurethane bushings and a durable powder coat finish. While the system is designed for a 100% bolt-in installation for most components, welding the chassis mounts is an option for added security.
