UMI Performance 78-88 GM G-Body 3/4in Solid Rear Sway Bar Auto-x/Road Race

If you're hitting the track for autocross or road racing in your 1978-1988 GM G-Body, you know how crucial handling balance is. This 3/4-inch solid rear sway bar from UMI Performance is built to give you that competitive edge. It's specifically engineered to address the common issue of the inside rear tire lifting during hard cornering, which can happen with stiffer setups. By preventing that lift, this bar helps keep all four tires planted, improving traction and allowing for better rotation through turns.

UMI has put a lot of thought into the mounting system to reduce bind. The chassis mounts use four 3/8-inch fasteners and require drilling into the crossmember, with a template and instructions included to guide you. You can choose the mounting hole that best suits your driving style and course: the longest for street and high-speed courses, the middle for medium-speed tracks, and the shortest for maximum rotation. The differential housing mounts are CNC machined and designed to clamp onto axle tubes ranging from 2.75 to 3.25 inches in diameter, clearing most common rear ends like factory 7.5, GN 8.5, 12-bolt, 9-inch, and M9 rears. For even more security, these mounts can be welded on. The bar itself is made from strong 4140 CrMo steel and features heavy-duty race-style CrMo spherical rod ends with Teflon for smooth, bind-free operation.

This sway bar offers three distinct rates: 346 lb/in, 262 lb/in, and 205 lb/in, allowing you to fine-tune your car's handling characteristics. It comes with premium, greaseable polyurethane bushings and a durable powder coat finish. While it's designed as a 100% bolt-in installation for the sway bar itself, remember that drilling is required for the chassis mounts.
