UMI Performance 78-88 GM G-Body 3/4in Solid Rear Sway Bar Auto-x/Road Race

UMI Performance is well-known for making solid suspension components for classic American cars. This 3/4-inch solid rear sway bar is specifically built for the 1978-1988 GM G-Body chassis, aiming to improve handling during autocross and road racing events. If you've noticed your car lifting the inside rear tire during hard cornering, this bar is designed to help prevent that while still controlling body roll and improving how the car rotates through turns.

This sway bar uses a lower rate than some other competition bars, which helps keep all four tires planted. The mounting system is designed to reduce binding, which can happen with factory-style bars. UMI's CNC machined clamping system works with various rear end housing diameters, including 2.75, 3, and 3.25 inches, so it should clear most common aftermarket rear ends like Moser and Strange. You can bolt it on directly, or weld the mounts for extra security. The chassis mounts attach with four 3/8-inch fasteners, requiring you to drill through the crossmember; a template and instructions are included to guide you. You can also adjust the bar's stiffness by choosing one of three mounting hole positions on the crossmember: the longest hole is for street use or high-speed courses, the middle hole for medium courses, and the shortest hole for maximum rotation in tighter tracks.

The bar itself is made from strong 4140 CrMo steel and features heavy-duty race-style spherical rod ends with Teflon for smooth movement. It comes with greaseable polyurethane bushings and a durable powder coat finish. This setup is designed to be a 100% bolt-in installation once the crossmember drilling is complete, making it a solid option for serious G-Body racers looking to fine-tune their car's handling.
