This kit includes the boxed trailing arms and bolt-on brackets, along with all the necessary Grade 10.9 hardware and greaseable polyurethane bushings. It's built to optimize your vehicle's instant center, which helps improve forward traction by lowering the rear pickup point of the lower control arm. This setup is a popular choice for vehicles like the Buick Regal, Chevrolet Monte Carlo, and Pontiac Grand Prix from 1978 to 1988.
The trailing arms themselves are fully boxed for strength and feature offset sway bar holes. This detail is important because it allows your factory sway bar to sit level even when the control arm pickup point is lowered. The CNC laser-cut brackets are designed to bolt directly onto factory 7.5 and GN 8.5 rear axle housings, offering three distinct positions for adjusting the instant center. UMI builds these parts from US Steel in Philipsburg, PA, and they are available in a black or red powder coat finish. While this kit is recommended for street use as-is, welding the brackets is advised if you plan on using drag radials or slicks for maximum performance.
Installation involves drilling two 3/8” holes and typically takes about 2-3 hours. While not strictly required, UMI recommends adjustable upper control arms to further fine-tune your suspension geometry. This kit works well with both lowered and non-lowered vehicles, giving you flexibility in how you set up your G-Body.
