This tunnel-mounted torque arm from UMI Performance moves that stress off the transmission's tail shaft and onto the chassis, protecting it from damage. It's designed specifically for 1982-1992 Chevrolet Camaros and Pontiac Firebirds equipped with a TH400 transmission (short tail only), making that popular swap a straightforward bolt-in installation.

This setup uses a robust 0.120-inch thick rectangular steel crossmember that bolts directly to existing floor pan holes, eliminating the need for welding or drilling. The torque arm itself is constructed from 1.250-inch by 0.120-inch DOM seamless steel tubing and attaches to the crossmember via grease-able Energy Suspension polyurethane bushings. These bushings are key to absorbing road vibrations and preventing the harsh clunks often associated with aftermarket suspension components, keeping your cabin more comfortable. For further tuning, the torque arm offers two instant center adjustment points, allowing you to fine-tune your car's weight transfer for improved 60-foot times, especially on lower to mid-horsepower builds.
