When you're trying to make a really tight bend with a flexible hose, or if the hose is subjected to strong vacuum conditions, it can sometimes collapse on itself. This spring fits inside the hose to prevent that from happening. Just slide it in before you install the hose, and it'll keep the internal diameter open, ensuring consistent flow. Keep in mind this is not meant for use with PTFE-lined hoses.
