What makes the Deore Gold finish different from standard colors?

Deore Gold is one of Wehrli's specialty powder coat colors. Specialty colors carry a slightly higher price than the standard finishes like Gloss Black or Flat Black, but the components and performance are identical across all color options.

Will this kit work with my aftermarket turbo?

This kit is compatible with OEM and upgraded IHI-style drop-in turbochargers only. It is not recommended for S300 or S400 style turbochargers. Wehrli makes separate kits designed for those turbo platforms.

Does the kit include a down pipe?

Yes, this is the Stage 3 bundle which includes a 3" high flow down pipe with black ceramic coat and heat wrap. The Stage 2 version covers the intake side only and does not include the down pipe.

What gaskets and hardware come with the kit?

The kit includes installation hardware, gaskets, O-ring bridge flange gaskets, silicone boots, stainless T-bolt clamps, and an FPRV block-off kit. Refer to Wehrli's installation instructions for the complete hardware breakdown.

Inside this box you get everything needed to replace the restrictive factory intake tract on your 2001-2004 Silverado 2500 HD, Silverado 3500, Sierra 2500 HD, or Sierra 3500 LB7 Duramax: a 4" air intake with enclosed air box, 4" turbo intake horn, full 3" intercooler piping set with billet Y-bridge, and a 3" down pipe. All of it finished in Wehrli's Deore Gold powder coat.

This is the Stage 3 bundle from Wehrli Custom Fab, which means it covers both the intake and exhaust sides of the turbo. Starting at the filter, the 4" fabricated aluminum intake pipe and 10-gauge aluminum air box draw cold air through the inner fender. The dry filter and hydrophobic Outerwears pre-filter cover keep contaminants out of the MAF sensor and turbo. A 4" high flow intake horn replaces the restrictive factory turbo mouthpiece and works with OEM and IHI-style upgraded drop-in turbochargers.

Between the turbo and engine, Wehrli replaces the OEM Y-bridge and both intercooler pipes with 3" mandrel-bent aluminum tubing feeding a TIG-welded, CNC-machined billet Y-bridge base. That full 3" tract helps reduce exhaust gas temperatures and improves throttle response and turbo spool. Upgraded silicone boots rated for higher pressures and temperatures take the place of the angled factory rubber pieces that are known to crack, and stainless steel T-bolt clamps secure every connection.

The 3" down pipe replaces the factory piece that has crushed spots and tight bends restricting exhaust flow. It comes with a black ceramic coat and heat wrap to keep under-hood temps in check. An FPRV block-off kit is also part of the package. This kit is built for OEM and IHI-style turbochargers only and is not CARB approved.
