Will this white finish discolor from engine heat over time?

The Gloss White powder coat is applied to the aluminum intake and intercooler components, which see moderate temperatures. The down pipe, which handles exhaust heat, uses a separate black ceramic coat with heat wrap rather than the white powder coat.

Is the air filter reusable or disposable?

The kit includes a dry air filter. Refer to Wehrli's maintenance guidelines for filter cleaning and replacement intervals. The hydrophobic Outerwears pre-filter cover adds an extra layer of protection and can be removed separately for cleaning.

Can I buy just the Stage 2 components without the down pipe?

Yes, Wehrli offers the Stage 2 bundle separately, which includes the air intake, intercooler piping, and Y-bridge without the down pipe. The Stage 3 combines both Stage 2 and the down pipe into one package.

What type of turbochargers are not compatible?

This kit is not recommended for S300 or S400 style turbochargers. It is built specifically for OEM and upgraded IHI-style drop-in turbochargers. Wehrli offers separate single turbo kits for S300 and S400 setups.

Wehrli Custom Fab's Stage 3 High Flow Intake Bundle Kit is a complete intake-side and exhaust-side upgrade for the 2001-2004 Silverado 2500 HD, Silverado 3500, Sierra 2500 HD, and Sierra 3500 with the 6.6L LB7 Duramax. This kit comes finished in Gloss White powder coat, and it replaces every major restriction point in the factory intake and exhaust tract with properly sized aluminum components.

Air enters through a 4" fabricated aluminum intake pipe and enclosed air box built from 10-gauge aluminum sheet. The box pulls cold air through the inner fender, and the removable lid makes it easy to inspect and maintain the dry filter and hydrophobic Outerwears pre-filter cover that protect the MAF sensor. From there, a 4" high flow turbo intake horn replaces the factory mouthpiece, removing a well-known restriction that limits spool and top-end power on the LB7. The horn works with both stock and upgraded IHI-style drop-in turbochargers.

Downstream of the turbo, the kit swaps the factory Y-bridge, cold-side intercooler pipe, and hot-side intercooler pipe for 3" mandrel-bent aluminum tubing connected to Wehrli's TIG-welded, CNC-machined billet Y-bridge base. Building out a full 3" tract between turbo and engine helps move more air, speed up turbo response, and reduce exhaust gas temperatures. Silicone boots rated for higher pressures and temperatures replace the factory rubber that tends to crack and leak boost, secured with stainless steel T-bolt clamps.

The 3" high flow down pipe runs a straighter path than the stock piece, finished in black ceramic coat with heat wrap for thermal management. An FPRV block-off kit, installation hardware, and gaskets round out the package. For OEM and IHI-style turbochargers only. Not CARB approved.
