Illusion Purple is one of Wehrli's color-shifting powder coat finishes that changes appearance depending on the light and viewing angle. Specialty finishes carry a slightly higher price than standard colors like Gloss Black or Flat Black. The underlying components are identical.

Does this kit fit the 2004.5 LLY Duramax?

No, this kit is specifically for the 2001-2004 LB7 Duramax. The LLY (2004.5-2005) has a different intake and turbo setup. Wehrli makes separate kits for other Duramax generations.

What does the down pipe connect to on the exhaust side?

The 3" down pipe connects between the turbo outlet and the rest of your exhaust system. Check that your existing exhaust or aftermarket system is compatible with a 3" connection at the down pipe flange.

How is the air box sealed against hot engine bay air?

The air box is built from 10-gauge aluminum sheet and is enclosed to isolate the filter from engine bay heat. It routes intake air through the inner fender, pulling cooler air from outside the engine compartment.

Built for the 2001-2004 Silverado 2500 HD, Silverado 3500, Sierra 2500 HD, and Sierra 3500 with the 6.6L LB7 Duramax, this Wehrli Custom Fab Stage 3 High Flow Intake Bundle Kit replaces every major restriction in the factory intake and exhaust tract. This version wears Wehrli's Illusion Purple powder coat -- one of their specialty finishes that shifts color depending on the light and viewing angle.

Starting at the filter, a 4" fabricated aluminum intake pipe feeds into a 10-gauge aluminum air box that draws cold air through the inner fender. The dry filter and hydrophobic Outerwears pre-filter cover keep contaminants out, while the removable lid means you can check the filter without removing the entire air box. A 4" high flow turbo intake horn opens up the restrictive factory turbo mouthpiece and works with OEM and upgraded IHI-style drop-in turbochargers to improve turbo spool and top-end airflow.

Wehrli replaces the OEM Y-bridge, cold-side intercooler pipe, and hot-side intercooler pipe with 3" mandrel-bent aluminum tubing connected to their TIG-welded, CNC-machined billet Y-bridge base. That full 3" tract between turbo and engine is where you feel the difference in throttle response, turbo spool time, and lower exhaust gas temperatures. The upgraded silicone boots are rated for higher pressures and temperatures than the factory rubber pieces that are known failure points on the LB7, and stainless steel T-bolt clamps lock down every connection.

On the exhaust side, the 3" down pipe follows a straighter path than the factory pipe, finished in black ceramic coat with heat wrap. An FPRV block-off kit, gaskets, and all installation hardware are included. For OEM and IHI-style turbos only. Not CARB approved.
