What is the difference between Gun Metal and other color options?

The Gun Metal finish is a cosmetic choice only. All Stage 1 High Flow Bundle Kits for the LBZ Duramax include identical components and specifications regardless of color. Standard colors are typically priced the same.

Can I install this with basic hand tools?

This is a bolt-on kit that Wehrli says requires no other modifications or tuning. All necessary hardware, boots, clamps, and gaskets are included. Refer to the manufacturer's installation instructions for specific tool requirements.

Does this replace the intake manifold itself?

Not the intake manifold runners themselves. This kit replaces the Y-bridge that sits atop the intake manifold (the upper plenum), along with both intercooler pipes that feed it. The lower intake manifold and runners remain stock.

Gun Metal is one of the more understated color options in Wehrli Custom Fab's Stage 1 High Flow Bundle Kit lineup for the 2006-2007 LBZ Duramax, and part number WCF100323-GM delivers the same performance components as every other color variant.

The kit centers on a 3-inch two-piece Y-bridge that replaces the factory slip-fit unit prone to blowing apart under boost. Wehrli says the Y-bridge with its upper crossover and lower intercooler pipes flows 36% better than stock. The 3-inch driver side intercooler pipe replaces the undersized 2.5-inch OEM piece, and the 3.5-inch passenger side pipe replaces the failure-prone factory plastic with 14 gauge fabricated aluminum, flowing 47% better per the manufacturer. All connections use CNC machined flanges with double O-ring seals.

Silicone boots rated for higher temperatures and pressures than stock, stainless steel T-bolt clamps, wire clip rings, and all gaskets and hardware come in the box. Wehrli says this is a bolt-on installation with no tuning required, compatible with completely stock trucks. Finished in Gun Metal powder coat, made in the USA. Not CARB approved.
