What makes the Wehrli Y-bridge better than the factory one?

The OEM Y-bridge is a slip-fit two-piece design that can blow apart under boost. Wehrli's version uses a bolt-together design with CNC machined flanges and a secure sealing surface where the air inlet horn connects.

Does this replace the entire intake tract from intercooler to engine?

It replaces the Y-bridge and both intercooler pipes (driver and passenger side), covering the air path from the intercooler connection to the engine. The factory grid heater and EGR controls are retained.

Is the powder coat just cosmetic or does it serve a function?

The powder coat finish provides both appearance and a layer of surface protection for the aluminum and steel components in the kit.

Wehrli Custom Fab builds this Stage 1 intake bundle specifically for the 2006-2007 LBZ Duramax, and the Gloss White powder coat makes it one of the more visible options in the color lineup. Inside the box you get a 3-inch two-piece Y-bridge, a 3-inch driver side intercooler pipe, a 3.5-inch passenger side intercooler pipe, plus all the silicone boots, stainless T-bolt clamps, seals, and gaskets needed for the swap.

The factory Y-bridge on these trucks is a slip-fit design that can separate under boost, especially on trucks that see regular heavy loads or above-stock power levels. Wehrli's bolt-together replacement seals where the air inlet horn meets the bridge and uses mandrel-bent tubing with CNC machined billet flanges throughout. The driver side pipe goes from the OEM 2.5-inch diameter to a full 3 inches, and the passenger side jumps to 3.5 inches with 14-gauge aluminum construction. Double O-ring seals on the CNC flanges, wire clip rings at both slip flanges, and upgraded silicone boots are all part of the package.

Wehrli claims 36% better flow on the Y-bridge and 47% better flow on the cold side pipe compared to stock. No tuning is needed, and the kit works on unmodified trucks. Made in the USA.
