What is the difference between Stage 2 and Stage 1?

Stage 2 combines the Stage 1 intake kit (intake pipe, horn, and air box) with upgraded intercooler piping and the 3 in. Y-bridge. Stage 1 only addresses the intake side, while Stage 2 upgrades the full airflow tract from the air filter through the intercooler piping to the intake manifold.

GM carried many of the same intake and intercooler piping weaknesses from the LBZ into the 2007.5-2010 LMM Duramax platform. Undersized pipes, leak-prone plastic components, and a slip-fit Y-bridge that blows apart under boost all limit what your turbo can do. This Wehrli Stage 2 High Flow Bundle Kit in Gloss White replaces every one of those weak points with properly-sized aluminum components that actually flow.

A 4 in. aluminum intake pipe with enclosed air box and dry filter assembly draws cold air through the inner fender for denser intake charges. The 4.8 in. turbo intake horn -- the largest available for the platform -- picks up a 20% airflow improvement over the stock piece. An included Outerwears hydrophobic pre-filter cover protects the MAF sensor and turbo from water and debris.

Intercooler Pipes and Y-Bridge That Hold Together

After the turbo, the factory 2.5 in. hot-side pipe and plastic cold-side pipe become the bottleneck. This kit replaces them with a 3 in. driver-side and 3.5 in. passenger-side intercooler pipe, both fabricated from 14 ga. aluminum with smooth mandrel bends. The cold-side pipe flows 47% better than the stock part. CNC machined flanges with double O-ring seals and upgraded silicone boots handle boost pressures that would blow apart factory rubber.

The heart of the system is Wehrli's 3 in. two-piece Y-bridge. The bolt-together design replaces the factory slip-fit bridge and flows 36% better than stock, creating a full 3 in. tract from intercooler to engine. It retains the factory grid heater and EGR connections for emissions compliance.
