If you're putting more power to the ground in your 2011-2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD or GMC Sierra 2500 HD, especially the Extended Cab Long Bed (ECLB) and Crew Cab Long Bed (CCLB) models, this Wehrli Custom Fabrication traction bar kit is a smart addition. When you significantly increase horsepower, the torque applied to your rear axle can cause it to twist. This twisting can lead to a cascade of problems, including broken U-joints, damaged driveshafts, and even warped axle housings. These traction bars are designed to keep your axle planted and prevent that damaging twist.

Wehrli builds these bars in-house using 68-inch heavy-duty bars. The frame-side mounts are designed to be welded on, providing a solid anchor point. At the axle, the mounts bolt directly to your existing U-bolt locations, making installation straightforward without needing to remove your axle. For the connection at the frame, they use a rebuildable and greaseable Currie Enterprise "Johnny Joint" heim, which allows for adjustments if you change your suspension height or want to fine-tune the torsion on the axle. At the axle connection, a durable polyurethane bushing is used. This helps reduce the noise and vibration that can sometimes come with using solid heim joints on both ends, a common complaint with other setups. All hardware included is Grade 8, known for its strength and reliability. The bars are finished with a gloss white powder coat over a zinc primer base coat, which Wehrli states increases corrosion resistance significantly compared to a standard single coat.
