BD Diesel 03-04 Dodge Cummins 4WD w/ TapShifter 48RE Trans & Converter Stage 4 Package

You get a complete transmission and torque converter package in this kit, which means one box handles a major drivetrain upgrade for your 2003-2004 Dodge Ram 2500 with the 48RE transmission and 4WD. This Stage 4 package is built to handle the demands of your Cummins diesel, offering improved durability and performance for street driving, towing, and more.

BD Diesel has reinforced key areas of the 48RE transmission. The stock thrust bushings are replaced with roller Torrington bearings, and the intermediate shaft is drilled for better lubrication. You'll find a high-temperature Raybestos band, along with billet band levers and struts for added strength. The input shaft is a billet 'Big' fine spline type, designed to handle the rapid throttle changes and higher horsepower common with modified diesels. The transmission also features an upgraded valve body, governor solenoid, and pressure transducer, increasing line pressure to 190-200 psi for more positive engagement without shuttle shifting issues. The included BD rigid aluminum heavy-duty transmission pan adds 2 quarts of extra oil capacity and features heat-dissipating fins to help keep temperatures down, further increasing drivetrain durability. A magnetic drain plug is also included to catch any stray metal particles.

The included torque converter is matched to the transmission for optimal street and towing performance. It features torque-multiplying cast aluminum stators for improved low-end response compared to stock, leading to more efficient operation, less heat, and potentially better fuel economy. The converter is built with a stamp-forged steel front cover and furnace-brazed fins for strength. It also boasts up to triple the amount of lock-up clutch material for a more robust connection. For added protection, this package includes BD's auxiliary full-flow filter kit and a cooler line case saver. Every transmission is dyno-tested to ensure it meets BD's standards before it leaves the facility.
