What makes this transmission so strong starts with a modified valve body, specifically the ProTech68 unit, which can ramp line pressure up to 250psi when the MAP sensor detects a heavy load. This increased pressure, combined with a billet input shaft and an HD Billet OD Drum, gives you nearly 50% more apply area for the overdrive clutch. BD also includes their Big Stack OD clutch pack, bringing the total clutch count up significantly across all gears – for example, the OD clutch has 16 apply surfaces (8+8), and the C2 and C4 clutches have 6 (3+3). They use self-centering trapezoid clutch teeth for better contact and less wear, and billet steel pressure plates and pistons to reduce deflection. This whole setup is designed to reduce slip and hold more torque, keeping your transmission cooler and more durable.

To help manage heat, this package includes a BD Diesel deep aluminum pan that adds an extra 4.5 quarts of fluid capacity.
