Starting with the stamped, forged 1-piece cover on the torque converter, which is designed to eliminate warpage from clutch heat and can be rebuilt more often thanks to its taller design, this BD Diesel transmission and converter package is built for serious work. The torque converter also features trapezoid teeth with a self-centering design that increases contact and reduces wear and chatter, along with thrust bearings instead of plastic washers for improved durability. Its cast stator design maximizes torque, and the new sprag components ensure long-term reliability, especially with the double cage stator sprag that addresses common OE design failures.

The transmission itself sees a significant increase in clutch count across all five clutch packs, with C3 clutches seeing a 75% increase over stock, and C1, C2, C4, and C5 clutches each seeing a 14-17% increase. This, combined with an increase in steel mass for better heat dissipation and high-energy GPZ frictions, means this transmission can handle more power and torque. The included BD Aluminum HD deep transmission pan adds an extra 3.5 quarts of oil capacity, further aiding in cooling and longevity.
