BD Diesel Transmission Kit (c/w Filter & Billet Input) - 1998-1999 Dodge 24-valve 47RE 4wd

The stock transmission in your 1998-1999 Dodge Ram 2500 or 3500 is built for the original engine's power, but if you've added horsepower or plan to, it's likely to struggle. This BD Diesel Stage 5 transmission kit is designed to significantly increase the durability and power-handling capability of your 47RE transmission. It replaces key components with stronger, updated parts and includes a billet input shaft to handle the demands of rapid throttle changes and high horsepower applications.

BD Diesel has upgraded this transmission with more rugged 48RE components, effectively making it a stronger unit. They've replaced stock thrust washers with roller Torrington bearings to save governor solenoids and reduce friction, and the intermediate shaft is drilled for increased lubrication. The valve body has been redesigned with revised oil circuits and modified manual valves for improved lubrication in all gear positions. This transmission also features a higher clutch apply pressure, starting at lower RPMs and lighter throttle inputs, while maintaining comfortable light throttle shift firmness and eliminating shuttle shifting issues. The kit includes a BD auxiliary full-flow filter kit for added protection and a rigid aluminum heavy-duty transmission pan that adds an extra quart of oil capacity and helps dissipate heat with its fins.

This transmission is built to handle up to 300% more power and torque than the stock unit, thanks to extra clutches with up to 25% more material than stock, along with a billet band strut and anchor, and a billet dual ring accumulator piston. It comes with a magnetic drain plug in the pan to catch any metal particles. Every transmission is dyno-tested to ensure it meets BD Diesel's standards before it leaves the shop.
