Starting with a 3/4" deck throughout the head, this Edelbrock Performer Cylinder Head is built for stiffness and durability. This complete head is designed as a bolt-on performance upgrade for your 1987-2006 Jeep with the 4.0L inline six engine. It features improved intake and exhaust ports, along with a modern combustion chamber design that helps improve airflow. The valves are back-cut and swirl-polished, further enhancing their ability to move air efficiently.

You'll appreciate that Edelbrock retained the stock valve angle, pushrod length, and valve cover bolt pattern. This means it works with your factory components and readily available aftermarket accessories. For added strength at higher RPMs, the rocker bosses are larger and reinforced. Plus, Heli-Coil threaded inserts are used in the intake manifold bolt holes for extra durability. This cylinder head is also machined to work with either a distributor or a coil pack ignition system.

To optimize airflow, the intake port location is set for 1991-2006 4.0L engines, and the exhaust port size is for 1991-1998 4.0L engines. Because of these specific port locations and sizes, you'll need to use a 1991-2006 intake manifold. For exhaust, you'll need a 1991-1998 exhaust manifold or an aftermarket header. Aftermarket headers are required if you have a 1999-2006 model year vehicle, as this head is not compatible with the OEM exhaust manifolds from those years. Always check with your exhaust header manufacturer to confirm compatibility.
