Mishimoto 15-20 BMW F8X M3/M4 Performance Air-to-Water Intercooler Power Pack - Yas Marina Blue

BMW is known for making performance luxury vehicles, and the F8X generation of the M3, M4, and M2 Competition is a prime example. Under the hood, the S55 engine uses an air-to-water intercooling system to keep temperatures in check. While BMW's design was effective, Mishimoto identified areas for improvement, especially with the intercooling system. Factory plastic charge pipes can sometimes crack or split under pressure, which is a concern when you're pushing your M3 or M4. Mishimoto's new charge pipe design offers more confidence. They are constructed entirely of aluminum with a cast mid-section that's shaped to fit around the intake. The kit also includes matte black silicone couplers for a secure connection to the intercooler. The intercooler itself features an improved bar-and-plate core with 29% more volume and a single-pass coolant flow for better heat transfer. This resulted in a 12°F drop in intake air temperatures during testing. The heat exchanger also sees a significant upgrade, with a full aluminum design that's 6 inches taller, increasing its external fin surface area by 180% and core volume by 60%. This improved heat exchanger dropped global intercooler coolant temperatures by 10°F. When tested on a Stage 1 tuned M3, the full power pack showed an average gain of 11 wheel horsepower and 8 wheel torque. For added protection, a steel mesh stone guard is included to keep the heat exchanger's tubes and fins safe. The heat exchanger also uses a variable fin pitch, which is beneficial for vehicles equipped with a DCT transmission.
