This intercooler features a substantial 4.7-inch thick core, CNC-machined 6061 aluminum flanges, and precision TIG-welded cast aluminum end tanks. This construction makes it much more robust than the stock tube-and-fin intercooler with its plastic end tanks, offering significantly improved durability against heat, pressure, and road debris. Beyond durability, the Mishimoto intercooler boasts a 77% increase in core volume and a 175% increase in fin surface area. For the 2.3L EcoBoost, this translates to a 7% increase in airflow and a reduction in outlet temperatures of 21.2 degrees Fahrenheit compared to stock. In real-world testing, even after six back-to-back dyno runs in a simulated trail heat-soak scenario, outlet temperatures remained 20 degrees cooler than stock. All adaptive cruise control and 360° camera functionality are retained.
