This intercooler features a robust bar-and-plate core that's significantly larger than the stock unit, boasting a 130-percent increase in core volume and a 168-percent increase in fin surface area. This design helps it flow better and cool the intake charge more effectively. Mishimoto precision TIG-welds the core to cast and CNC-machined aluminum end tanks for a strong, reliable connection. The result is a cooler, denser air charge reaching the engine, which translates to more power. On a stock tune, testing showed an addition of 34 horsepower and 7 lb.-ft of torque at the wheels. When paired with a tune, the gains become even more substantial, adding up to 65 horsepower and 12 lb.-ft of torque over the stock intercooler setup. Even under heavy load, this intercooler keeps outlet air temperatures much closer to ambient compared to the stock unit, preventing heat soak and maintaining performance.
